What happened at Dec 2 Meeting?

Clean-ups – 2 Saturdays, Mark led 30 volunteers – 55 bags of leaves – 200 daffodil bulbs in the raised beds of Chester Park and the median of Mass Ave. Looking forward to a colorful Spring! Email info@chestersquareassociation.org if you can help light fountains for the holidays (Dec 12).
Sgt Taxter offered BPD’s Safe Alley team to come to your alley for a security assessment. We’ll flier your block. Neighbors gather at the announced time for a walk around to observe problems and opportunities for neighbors and City to work together.
Northampton St – National Grid continues gas line upgrades. Mayors’ liaison Sam Chambers will inquire about excluding large truck through traffic.
Bud & Josh agreed to put together ideas for developing the Alexandra Hotel (corner Washington & Mass Ave). Email your thoughts to info@chestersquareassociation.org Brokers are expected to attend our January meeting.

Voted: Chester Square Area Neighborhood Association supports the participation of representatives from the South End Forum in the Alliance of Downtown Civic Organizations provided the diversity of positions in the South End is honored.

Comet Place – Sam Chambers will check on the process to get one-way designation and signs. He’ll also request street sweeping.

Notes from Nov 4 Meeting

Thanks to Charline Walker, manager of Hampton House, we’re now meeting in their community room.
BPD Sgt Lucas Taxter, provided crime statistics for our area. Crime is down, but please call 911 if you feel there is a problem: “Be our eyes and ears when we can’t be here!”

McAllaster House (526 Mass Ave) is undergoing extensive renovations. Required roof-water infiltration system leaves only 2 ft soil depth in the front yard – insufficient to replace the cherry tree. The meeting agreed to support the proposed planting plan, designed to complement the oak tree in the sidewalk nearby.

Neighbors have successfully challenged unfair tickets for improper disposal of trash. Go to http://www.cityofboston.gov/publicworks/wastereduction/regulations.asp for guidance on proper disposal of trash and recycling.

Sat, Nov 7, Mark Carrig will lead volunteers in planting daffodil bulbs in Chester Park.

Sat Nov 21, Mark Carrig and Sara Mitchell will lead a neighborhood clean-up.

Sat, Dec 5 at 5 pm, Carol Blair and Jim O’Donnell will host Christmas Caroling at Robert Fortes House – affordable, senior housing at 541 Shawmut Ave, corner Northampton St.

Next meeting: Dec 2 – 7 pm @ Hampton House
